You Know My Name And Its Not Cancer. The past few weeks and days have been filled with not so good news and discoveries. Through it all, God keeps sending me messages of comfort and patience. After learning about the positive Biposy, my Doctor scheduled me for an MRI and genetic testing that will rule out any future risk for cancer.

The purpose of the MRI is to take a more in-depth look into my breast tissue and neighboring areas to ensure the cancer is isolated and has not spread. The results of the MRI would be available within a day of examination. Genetic counseling and testing take a look at my family history, focusing on the history of cancer and other ailments. The survey is followed by a blood test that will do you a deeper dive into analyzing the DNA. To identify any critical traces of genetics that identified cancer. And the genetic testing results are available 7 to 10 days after.
MRI
Breast MRI is the most sensitive technique for the detection of breast cancer, with widespread application in the screening of high-risk patients and pre-surgical planning. In younger women and women with dense breasts, MRI is effective in the detection of what are known as multicentric cancers, meaning breast cancers involving two or more distinct primary tumors, usually in different quadrants of the breast. However, there has been some debate about the clinical significance of multicentric cancers found with MRI.

Thirty minutes after leaving the Radiology Center, I received a call from my Doctor. She advised me that there were no additional signs of cancer in my body except for the location which we have already identified.
At this moment, I was standing in the middle of Columbus Circle in New York City with Whole Foods Shockett shopping bags in my hand, feeling thankful fighting tears and just overall Thanksgiving. I took this excellent news and headed home in continued preparation for coronavirus isolation.

At this point, I still haven’t shared my health discovery with anyone, except for my sister. So, I was carrying on as usual.
